Amazing Super Target Deals

Target is one store I shop only when there are great deals. Well, this week is proving to have some great deals. Did you know that Target has printable coupons on their website? These are great, because when there is a really good coupon, there is no limit to how many you can print. I always just say, don't clear the shelf make sure you leave a good deal for the next person also.

Anyway, this week you can get meat and canned soup at amazing prices. I have not made it out to Target yet, but will let you know when I do.

The Sutton & Dodge Round Steak and Roast are on sale for at most Targets for $2.49/lb. and there is a $2 off coupon that you can print. If you can find a small package that will be some super cheap steak.

Market Pantry Soups are reported to be on sale for $0.54 a can and there is a $0.50/2 cans coupon that you can print making them $0.29 per can. I have seen that cream of mushroom and cream of chicken are included in this sale.

Finally, if you get small bunches of cauliflower or broccoli there is a $1 off fresh vegetables coupon to score some cheap veggies.

Diaper Deals

There are a few high value Huggies coupons in the coupon bar on the left side. There is a $5 off Huggies Gentle Care and $3 off Huggies Natural Fit. Print these coupons now because they will not be available for long. Then, you will want to keep them to use next week at Walgreens. Their sale from March 8-14 has a register reward deal on Huggies. The diapers are on sale for $10 (not a good price at all!) and when you purchase $25 worth you will get a $10 register reward back. This means you buy $25 worth and use coupons to bring the price you pay less than $25 and then you will get a printed register reward for $10. Make sure you print your coupons right away!

Where to Get Coupons

I mentioned in my earlier post that you need to start gathering coupons and get coupons from many different sources to really maximize your savings. Here is a list of where to start getting coupons from.

The Sunday Newspaper: There are three types of ad sources in the Sunday Newspapers; Procter and Gamble (comes out the first Sunday of the month), Smart Source, and Red Plum. It is important to know that there are usually no coupons on holiday weekends. I get one paper delivered and when there are good coupons I will buy anywhere from one to five more papers to help maximize my coupons. I also like to go get a coffee on Sunday and will gather all the coupon ads I see laying around. I have also learned that not all papers carry the same coupons. For me I get better coupons (higher value and larger quantity) if I get the Denver Post over the Loveland Reporter Harold. You can also ask friends to give you their inserts, many people just throw them away.

Printable Coupons: These are available all over the Internet, but a few good sources are coupons.com and smartsource.com. You can often find printable coupons directly on the manufacturers’ website as well. As I find good printable coupons I will let you know.

By Mail Coupons: On the Internet there are often places to sign up to have a company mail you samples of their product or coupons. If you have not signed up for vocal points, you must sign up now. Once you sign up you will continue to get samples and coupons mailed regularly to you. These are usually great coupons.

Blinkies: These are the coupons you can find in your stores. Many stores will have little pull boxes with coupons on the isle next to that product. When you see them for a product your family will use, grab a few and add it to your stash. One time I found a 75 cent off coupon for Kraft cheese (which at my store will get doubled to $1) and the Kraft cheese was already on sale for $2 along with being part of a larger sale where if you buy 10 of the participating items you get $5 off your purchase. So, I bought 10 bags of cheese, used 10 manufactures coupons (all from the pull box) and then got $5 off my purchase. I ended up paying $5 for 10 bags of Kraft shredded cheese. That is maximizing your coupons with the store sales.

Catalinas: These are the coupons that print out of a machine near the register. Both King Soopers and Safeway print these. Walgreen's also has this type of coupon. You can often find these laying in carts because many people don't care about the coupons, if you see them grab them and check them out. I have had Catalina coupons for free products several times from the grocery stores.

Understanding Coupons

Now that you have the basics you need to understand coupons and how they work… this is what I never knew and was not able to maximize my coupon usage until I learned these things

There are different types of coupons

• Manufactures coupons – this is the majority of your coupons you will receive. These are coupons that a manufacturer puts out to get you to try their product and when you use one the store is refunded this money, plus a few cents for shipping from the manufacturer.
  
• Store coupons – these are coupons put out by a store to get you to come in and hopefully use your coupon, but then buy more while there.

You can use more than one coupon

• When purchasing an item you can use both a manufactures coupon and a store coupon for the same item you are buying.
  
• Most coupons say one coupon per purchase this means one coupon per item you are buying. This means if toilet paper is priced at $1 and you have 5 coupons for $1 off for that type and size of toilet paper you can buy 5 packages of toilet paper and use all 5 coupons to get 5 packages of toilet paper free.

Now you know the basics to couponing and can start looking into your local stores and start looking around to see what coupons you can find. One point you have to learn to accept and be ok with in order to maximize your savings is you many no longer be brand specific on items. For us we have a few things that we still only like one brand and we have accepted that those are things I do not budge on, but for most items we have learned to try new brands. Sometimes this means buying brands I would have never bought before because I always thought they were “too expensive” and sometimes it just means trying something that is not what we have always used.
